If I Were Poem by Gayathri Sukumaran

If I Were

I wish I were a breeze
So I could flow across you in ease.
I wish I were ice,
So I could melt over your eyes.
I wish I were a thorn,
So I could make the bee on you moan.
I wish I were a rain drop,
To make sure the thirst of yours crop.
I wish I were a cloud,
To hide you from the sun that screams aloud.
I wish I were everything,
That could make you something.
For you, the flower of heaven,
Seems to be my heaven.
The flower of heaven that came down,
Like a star in my mind's town.
