If I Was Different Poem by Des Agos

If I Was Different

Have you ever seen
a beggar
What did you give
a bit 'of money
and then forgot.

But with your thousand pounds
I will not stop 'to suffer
As I do not stop hating you
I also know that I love you
Now run away from here 'cause
Otherwise I'd die

If I was different
if I had more 'heart
you would see in a child,
in one evening,
in a morning
at a glance
a little 'love.

I can not teach
What is' a feeling
for this my dear
I will follow 'where the wind goes
and will not return 'never again'
