If Poem by Véronique Boulanger

If

If I could see inside my heart,
I would see the huge tornado
Of my past
Destroying part by part
The thing that made
That this person standing
In front of you is me.

If you could see inside my heart
You would be blinded by my lies.
'Cause every time I say something,
It's Someone Else's voice you hear.

If I could do whatever I want,
I would calmly sit
On the highest branch
Of the highest tree
Hoping it would break under me
Let me fall back
In the dawn I'm still
Living in today,
In the nightmare
That visits me
Tonight.
