She was dark,
she was beautiful
She was promising,
What names did you not call poverty
Who was able to describe that monster,
nobody was able to do it better than you did
You probably looked him in the eyes,
You confronted him and demonized him
You gave a good fight
Alas! you were depleted and drained in the struggle,
Wipe those tears,
For the cries were noticed.
Wherever you maybe, you have conquered that monster
How I wish you were here to see us now
Idayat
You will forever live
Live in our mind and memory

I would like to translate this poem
An emotional poem that one must take time with and read slowly. I might suggest in the first line of the second stanza that you separate the word 'maybe' making it 'may be' a little fix if you so choose. This is a strong poem, vivid, and one which stays with me. Light.
