I Wont Forget Poem by S Ovwata Onojieruo

I Wont Forget

Rating: 5.0

If i forget you- my friend
let the sun split through the plantain sucker while still young
if i cease to remember-
then let the ocean roll back four miles from this place
let the memories of the leopard be turned into dragon's
and the instinct of the tsetsefly become bee's sting.

I wont forget
all the times we walked passed time
holding hands and singing songs of the heart
whose lyrics only us both knew.
I wont forget
all the days we walked same way
walked and talked; talked and walked
amidst the jealousy of the birds
and even the moon- over our new found Love
'Me - serious, You - pleasant and playful
'Me - laughing, You- smiling; that beautiful smile of angelic remembrance.
I still remember - even fresh now
those days of our meetings
the beauty filled meetings
where been teased was fun - and teasing was joy.
I still remember it, even as always
that with you in a distance
and i miles apart
yet the flames of your smile still lighten up my day
and though some say with time one may forget to remember, but for you;
i choose to remember and never forget
