I Wish That I Could Fly! Poem by Denis Martindale

Over the years, I watched loads of films and TV shows
And I was fascinated by the Smallville series!
I followed the superhero stories shown on TV
As I remembered reading the comic books, you see!

Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash!
The Justice League of America was superb!
But most of all, I was fascinated for one reason,
I wish that I could fly!

Sometimes, in my dreams, I floated and levitated,
Yet I never wanted to land or fall flat on my face,
Nor did I want to wake up, either.
But I had to get up, or I would miss all those TV shows.

But then again, I loved the Superman films!
And the falling-in-love stuff with Lois.
There was no doubt about it! He loved her so much!
She made him a better Superman, and I liked that.

But most of all, I watched Superman fly
And that brought an immediate smile to my face!
Even now, I am jealous! I am so incredibly jealous!
Because I wish, how much I wish that I could fly!
