I Will Not Cry That You Are Holding Her Poem by Dana Korneisel

I Will Not Cry That You Are Holding Her

I will not cry that you are holding her
That she can feel your warmth
Hear your heart beat
Feel it ‘gainst her cheek.
But that I can not.
And I know she needs
You
more.

When he needed me
I was an object,
A ragdoll.
Now that she needs Him
He'll be a rock
A shield.
I was He'll be
TO HIM FOR HER
TO FOR

What can combine them? A need
And separates? A preference?
They need.
But I'd rather they not
For you & to me

I'd do anything for you DOESN'T MEAN You can do anything to me.

Our definitions separated us
Made you the villain,
For a time.
But I'm not the kind to be a victim
So I forgive you,
Forgive me for
Not realizing it before
Weil…du bist
Ein Freund
‘Friend'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The same person with troubles mentioned throughout my poetry from a certain time period.
The lynx as well (See: 'The Leopard') . Notice the self-blaming here, probably a sure sign of the emotional bullying the lynx had been up to for a while.
