I Told Her To Leave.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

it would and will always be
disappointing for a singer
to sing such a beautiful song and
sing it well, and yet no one
is listening.

i have listened to her alone and
she was pleased with my applause,
a lonely one too, amidst the silence
of the world, under the sky, beside
the mountain.

and then i told her to leave this
place, find herself somewhere else,
find the people who shall value her
song and listen to her more
artistically.

it really saddens me that only a few
recognize her art and her value.
