I Shall Come To Fade Within The Ripples Of Time Poem by Franc Rodriguez

I Shall Come To Fade Within The Ripples Of Time

The thester clouds would quickly overlap,
the once before gleaming midday sun.
And it is a sign that the eventide is nigh,
and I shall find myself forsooth alone again.
The gale blows there upon the drenched moors,
as the raindrops thus trickle one by one.
It is a time of wary tidings from the dale,
where folk speak of wraiths that sally amain.
Amid the shutters of the swaying windows,
I unfasten the hasp of clews to my doles.
Within the eerie darkness of the night,
I sought the need to shun at last my woe.
There amongst my broken and brittle heart,
and the plight of forgotten wandering souls.
It was hampered always by a hankering wish,
whittling my heart inside at will with rue.
It was a forsaken past and a fate so glum,
with an emptiness to afterwards forbear.
And the rustling words of a lover’s diary,
to be read afterwards with eagerness anew.
There within the everlasting written hue,
was a locket that bore her long flowing hair.
The footsteps of a lover of yore traipsed,
beside me with the gust of wind that blew.
It was the hallow guise of a ghost and a sight,
to glisten my eyes and rid me of this plight.
And into the godly mist of the blustery winds,
I was led upon my lover's wings onto the brine.
It behoved upon my soothing heart and soul,
the welkin shone upon me its glimmering light.
Behold the souls are uplifted in heave in a place,
that I shall come to fade within the ripples of time.
