I Saw Me Poem by Esther Hadassah Sendeza

I Saw Me

Rating: 4.5

When I walked past the mirror yesterday,
I didn't recognize myself,
I got so sucked into the world,
That I forgot who I was,
I forgot my identity,
And what truly makes me.

It all happened so fast,
I blinked and I changed,
How did I get here?
I couldn't recognize myself,
Slowly I became something I was not.

So today I looked in the mirror,
And deep in these eyes I saw me,
I saw my soul looking back at me,
And immediately I remembered who I was.

Tommorow I will look in my eyes again,
And the next day,
And the day after that.
My authentic self is too precious,
Too unique to just fade away,
It is worth more than gold,
This is what makes me who I am.

Shortly after I walked through the crowd,
In the midst of the worlds norm,
And within a heartbeat,
Even with my eyes closed.
I recognized me.

'So today I looked in the mirror, And deep in these eyes I saw me, I saw my soul looking back at me, And immediately I remembered who I was.' - Loved this beautiful stanza, and of course, the entire poem too.

I understand what you are saying. Great poem. You are beautiful and unique as you are. Dont let no one make you feel inadequate especially if the person has never felt the joy of being you. Amandhla!
