I Refuse To Forget Poem by Nancy Handabile

I Refuse To Forget

There are a lot of moments

The thought owns me

His image, his voice

My greatest obsession

My greatest failure

Why does it still hurt?

After all this time?

Despite all this distance?

Why can't I be content

With others are are closer

Others who try harder

Why can't I stop comparing?

A night spent with you

To month's spent with others

A night so complete in perfection

That I know there will never be another.

It hurts that you have this hold over me.

But it is not your fault

It is I who simply cannot forget.

I who refuses to forget

Because you taught me

The magnitude of my heart,

You made me aware

That I am a beautiful human

Who deserves to be loved passionately

And that in my flaws lies my perfection

You made me realise

That to love means to accept my imperfections

I found myself through you

merci beaucoup

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is basically after I read my poem
http: //www.poemhunter.com/poem/a-meeting-in-bruxelles/
It made me realise that we must never forget the beautiful lessons we learn from our great loves.

That even as we try to move on, we must realise that no two loves are ever the same and to try sand replicate is a shame.

Some experiences only happen once in a lifetime.

Sounds like you have learned some very truthful and valuable lessons from reading your own poem. Your poet's notes prove this to be the case. A beautiful and heartfelt poem written from the heart.
