I Really Do Not Want To Believe Poem by Francis Duggan

I Really Do Not Want To Believe

I really do not want to believe when i hear
That some C E O's are paid eight millions dollars a year
In a World where there is so much poverty
That does seem ridiculous would you not agree?

The gap between the haves and the have nots is widening by the day
In a fairer World things would not be this way
And hundreds must grow poorer for each new millionaire
The capitalist society does seem so unfair.

In so called affluent Nations homeless children live on the street
And search through rubbish bins for thrown out food to eat
Just walking distance from where abundance is rife
Many people condemned to a miserable life.

Whilst millions of people are living it tough
And millions are hungry and millions sleep rough
The privileged few living in luxury
Yes life does seem great for the minority.
