I Met A Girl Today Poem by Lola Sanchez

I Met A Girl Today

I met a girl on the train today
Our eyes met in the window
She was different from what I remembered

She danced to the music in her headphones.
A few jerks as if the music had to escape out of her body in some one way or another.

Her eyes displayed more pain than I knew was visible to the outside world

Her mouth was set in a determined line and her eyes twinkled of unsaid mischief.

She looked like someone that I could spend time with
A girl that has made mistakes and is determined to make more.
A woman in her formative years.

I met a girl on the train today…
I think that girl is me.
