I'M This World Of Ordinary People, Extraordinary People I'M Glad There Is You Poem by Ashley Best

I'M This World Of Ordinary People, Extraordinary People I'M Glad There Is You

Time passes,
Yet you stand still.

I can hear the silence in your posture
But I see the depth in your eyes
and Its screaming

'This place is slowly losing it's soul and it's mind'

Patchwork clothing drapes snug around her body
Bracelets upon bracelets cover up scars
From more painful previous times.

Rings cover every finger
In all shapes and sizes
Leaving one to wonder, why?

The boots she wears have seen miles upon miles
But loads of duct tape keeps them mobile.

My flaws she has perfected.

Standing silently she fidgets with her fingers
Spinning the rings around and round
I feel even my cuticles becoming dizzy

Because all she can feel is harsh ugly stares
Of those people admiring her.
Eyes meet but are quickly lost
As she moves her face in new directions.

These precious moments are all I have.

But, I crave more.

I want what she is hiding so well.

Watching her step onto the train
I sigh.
I'll be here waiting for the day
the nightmare of this woman ends
And the dream begans.

When she's the I'm holding before I go to bed.
