I'M Just Saying Poem by Sheri Brown

I'M Just Saying

A new America, it's time for a change.
Blood, sweat and tears for many years;
will we ever eliminate old baggages and fears?
Visualize it, the bigger picture.

America's past was embarrassing, I know
but I hear a sound, a refreshing rain
falling purposefully, removing the stain
of hypocrisy; can hate be squashed indefinitely?

Remembering going from Colored, Negro,
Black to African American.
Lord what's up with the labeling band?
Will they be placing bar codes on us next?

Don't scan me, baby, LOL—
White-Caucasian, Asian American,
Indian American, Hispanic American,
Other; really?

Here's a thought, why not just Americans?
Let the cleansing begin, we're all exceptional
regardless of how we got here, unbelievable.
We all have seen stars besides receiving stripes.

We are living in the US of A, breathing as one,
loving, grinding, hitching and riding,
no more separation, no more siding
alleviating discrimination.

We are One Nation under God.
Check it out, we are one unique groove.
The "Dream" is not far from remove
you know equality should be applied.

America, like looking into a pot of great gumbo,
a lovely fragrance, a mixture of splendidness
diversity at its best.
United We Stand, I'm just saying.
