I Loved You. Poem by emmanuelle sanders

I Loved You.

When I first saw you
I thought we'd just be friends.
Then you said that you'll always need me
So I guessed our friendship would never end.

Then suddenly, unexpectedly,
I fell in love with you.
But when you talk to me,
I think that this feeling ain't true.

I had this urge to reveal
The emotions that I really feel
But after all that I've said
You told me that it's not real.

I proved to you my feelings
But you can't seem to understand
I'm lost and feel unloved
And I need your love that's grand.

Months passed by, and soon I forget
All about you, and the things I did
Now I'm living my life without you
After all, I'm just a kid.

You confronted me one day
And told me what you really feel.
'I love you, girl', you'd say,
And I was shocked at what was revealed.

I can't believe what you said back then,
Since I, to you, was very kind.
But you threw my love away,
So I erased you from my mind.

I don't want to say that I was wrong,
But I just can't give in to you.
For I've loved you for so long,
But now I no longer love you.
