I’ll Catch You If You Fall Poem by David Harris

I’ll Catch You If You Fall

Rating: 5.0

For years you thought fame,
was the name of the game.
That the spotlight would shine on you,
if you followed your dream through.
However, if that dream should ever stall,
I’ll be here, I’ll catch you if you fall.

You took those first tender steps,
on the treadmill to your satisfaction,
walking the narrow line,
between celebration and rejection.
You posed with the beauty queens,
as you climbed towards the top.

At several stages, you stalled,
teetered on the edge.
You recovered to move forward,
taking leaps along the way.
Then overnight you failed to perform,
I shouted from the wings, I‘d catch you if you fall.

You merely nodded, moved forward in a rush.
The coming months saw your star begin to fade;
you began to struggle more each day.
Finally, you gave your final curtain call,
remembering the words I had always said,
that I would be there and, I’ll catch you if you fall.
