I Heard Thee Laugh Poem by Stephen Crane

I Heard Thee Laugh

Rating: 3.0

I HEARD thee laugh,
And in this merriment
I defined the measure of my pain;
I knew that I was alone,
Alone with love,
Poor shivering love,
And he, little sprite,
Came to watch with me,
And at midnight
We were like two creatures by a dead camp-fire.

This is the last laugh of the life to celebrate the time spent on earth and with a big laugh the world came to stand still, outstanding poem.

Laughter has power to heal. Opposite attracts. Midnight hour creates mystique. This poem pulls with all.

laughter pierces deeper than any affliction it heals the bond with the self between soul and purpose.

I HEARD thee laugh, And in this merriment I defined the measure of my pain; ..../ This is amazing. The entire poem has an element of mysticism running from start to the end. Thanks.
