I Found Someone That Day Poem by Erik Gillette

I Found Someone That Day

I found someone that day
Under the grand light of the stars
Where children come to play
And then leave as men ready to spar

Under the darkened azure sky found I a friend
Someone to believe in through the entirety of time
One who sees no heart or soul unable to mend
And who talks fearlessly to the face of personal crime

Bound by life and serendipity
I stand at attention to the will of this man
Because his abilities surpass my predictability,
Because he stands for more than what I alone can

Prepared to give more than simple answers
Prepared to be more than the simple answer
Prepared to spread to all like a cancer
Prepared to die to know his knowledge was transferred

That is the man who I know have come to know
Who came slowly to my side as a shoulder to lean on
And who shews away the pecking crow
Because who better to find significance in a yawn

Than me.
