I Awake Like Butterfly, Poem by Minnie Gehrig

I Awake Like Butterfly,

I rise a goddess
with streaming red hair
Streaked by the subtle touches of sun,
gently stepping out of my sleepy cocoon,
each foot touching clouds
as gently i shake
the remnants of the kisses
floating like butterflys
out of my dream filled eyes
fly free, wings dripping
with the stardust of your love,

transformed now by all the light of your eyes,
so deep and blue
no longer a sluggish catterpiller
but a butterfly a goddess
soaring in the possibility of our love.
