I Am The Door! Poem by Eric Cockrell

I Am The Door!

Rating: 5.0

i have no need of religious balm,
no need of doctrines or spurious cures.
i do not close my eyes when i sleep,
i do not falter, i do not follow.

the path i walk is mine alone,
the light i seek bears my name.
the burden i carry is mine by choice,
the cost of living is this life.

yet the freedom i long for must be shared,
the part feeds the whole, the hand the foot!
for there can be no justice if not for all,
and redemption the bridge that all must cross.

who am i if not you, you if not i?
the hunger i feel wears your face!
eternity comes and goes in moments shared,
if you be the heart, then i am the door!

Lot of different meanings hear, we walk a path that is ours alone, but we have to share with others who connect with us and become our comrades on the road of life. Has a great message about the human endurance, a triumph of humanism

The second verse of the poem really captivates me. We all must choose our path, and with or without religion, we follow a light and know within us if what we seek is right. Extraordinary effort!

Only we know what path is best for us, a great poem.
