I Am Sorry Poem by Amber Birnley

I Am Sorry

You aren't stupid, but you make a dumb choice or two along the way,
And I have too.
A lot of dumb, stupid choices,
Worse than this.
I'm not calling you dumb,
Or stupid,
I wouldn't ever direct that to you.
It's stupid and you know it.
Because it gets us nowhere.

I'd like to forgive and forget, but I have a feeling you won't agree.
But in about 5 minutes or so, when I log off, this conversation never happened in my mind.
I know you're different and won't let me ever forget,
Anything you ask isn't going to bug me,
Not even going to phase me.
But I want to let you know that I'm not directing anything at you.
You are not stupid,
You are actually rather smart.

I do still like you as a friend,
I will try to get better at everything.
Look, don't take anything I've said the wrong way,
Let me tell you, today I was the stupid one,
That's for certain,
I am an idiot.
I never thought I'd be this dumb.

I've done some impulsive things,
But i've never screwed up this terribly.
For that,
I am sorry.
