I Am Not As Sad As I Should Be Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Am Not As Sad As I Should Be

I am not as sad as I should be
The day has been long
And has diminished the sadness
Of the early morning bad news
Still the bad news may be with us for years
Israel has been betrayed at the U.N. by the Obama Administration
The historical connection of the Jewish people with Jerusalem has been denied
Untruth and Evil have won the day
I should be sadder
But I hope that our struggle of thousands of years
Of many generations
To live and be a people of blessing in the holy land
Will prevail
God promised us this land
And we must continue to realize our long dream
And build here a home for the Jewish people
That will be a blessing for humanity also.
