Hurtful Thoughts Poem by Timothy Murray

Hurtful Thoughts

After you’ve been beat, broken, and put down
All you want to do is come out swinging
We come up ashamed of our small, sad frown
We never stop to think of its meaning.

Words spoken like daggers by our close friends
Or actions done by someone that you love
They hurt us deeply, your heart breaks, not bends
Your tears will fall down from thoughts thought above

I can’t count on fingers, or say in words
All the times that someone close has hurt me
Those hard times hurt, like broken wings of birds
We think of only ourselves, quite simply

You might be hurting, be that is it may
Think of the people you hurt everyday
