Hurt & Pain Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Hurt & Pain

Which one of us has not been hurt?
Who’s never felt the pain?
Who with the devil didn’t flirt?
And left him free of stain

Even God has had hurt to share
The Lord has pain endured
His righteous Son had tests to bear
Where certain death ensured

We too should bear the cross life brings
Even to death’s embrace
When still in love our heart then sings
We’ll see our Saviour’s face

Much hurt can fill a mind with doubt
Can tear a soul apart
But God who knows what life’s about
Can see inside our heart

Often through hurt anger pursues
Of this be must beware
We need to shake off Satan’s shoes
And show through love we care

The Lord can see where eyes grow dim
Can see our wayward path
But Jesus wants us back with Him
And save us from The Wrath

Yet Satan seeks to keep us blind
He seeks to rule our thoughts
But God who’s ways can free our mind
Has sent The True report

From hurt and pain in Christ arise
Shake loose the devil’s chain
Allow God’s Truth to open eyes
Return to love again
