I Am A Jealous God Poem by Michael P. Johnson

I Am A Jealous God

Truly a jealous God am I
Creator Lord of all
Always living, never can die
At no one's beck and call

My knee to none will ever bend
Nothing's greater than me
With neither beginning or end
Nothing existed but me

Omnipotent, ever always
Omnipresent always I'll be
Though no living soul's seen my face
Faith can my presence see

I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere
Nothing escapes my eyes
The breath you breathe, alone I share
Your laughter and your sighs

Know well, my child, I'm testing you
Throughout your time on earth
Regarding thoughts, words, all things you do
Since bringing you to birth

Should I not my child, be jealous?
When false gods children seek
For love, should I not be zealous
Would that be fair critique?

Regarding troubles, joy each pain
Unable to foresee
Would you wish to be born again?
To dwell always with me

For you! my love is none ending
Eternal, I've all to give
Without being condescending
Truly you'll love to live.....
