Hurt Poem by Kim Jones

Hurt

I'm a closed book
hidden away in the depth of my eyes
only because of the light that they took
away from my skies.

I promised I wouldn't ever again,
but promises are easily broken
when they aren't written in blood.

He's getting too close
and it's getting harder and harder to push him away
He doesn't know
I hope he'll never know.

Once I realized what was happening
it was too late.
The pain comes and goes in waves
relentless, unstoppable waves.

It's hard to rip someone out
once they've become part of you
but I can't let him close
he'll just hurt me like everyone else.
