Humming Out The Tune Poem by Summer Sandercox

Humming Out The Tune

I'm singing our song,
The one with your name,
I'm speaking in whispers,
Remembering our game.

Listening to your melody,
Visualizing your face,
Blocking out the way,
You had to leave this place.

Taking slow deep breaths,
Touching your head stone,
Tracing over the letters,
And humming out the tune.

Picking out the flowers,
Just to watch them fade,
They won't bring you back,
Won't erase the memories we made.

Staring at your spot,
The place that you lay,
Smiling through the tears,
At the tricks we would play.

Listening for your laugh,
Lost inside my mind,
Digging for moments,
That I've tried to leave behind.

Pulling out the hurt,
That I've pushed away,
Waiting for the second,
That I would know what to say.

But nothing is coming,
And my eyes fill with tears,
I still miss you,
Wish we could have back those years.

You'll never be forgotten,
In the memory of me,
But I'll still keep you close,
Until you set me free.
