How Many Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

How Many

How many a lass and boy, woman, man,
Human walked the streets, cities, country,
Smiled, hoped, fretted, enjoyed and wept
Poor, rich, old, young, sprightly, crippled,
How many a lass and boy, woman, man.
Ah! all are gone all, all into the ear-like
Sump of Time, dews of night and mists
Of morn: ah! ah! centuries ago, ago that was!
