How Long Poem by Monalno Kim

How Long

How long will I be wrapped in my intense misery
How long will my heart burn with loathing, hatefully
My arm is short, I can't reach hope
My soul is wrecked, it can no longer cope

How long will my fierce eyes remain filled with remorse
How long will my voice remain unrecognized and hoarse
My back is bent, I cringe from sorrow and many fears
My ears ring with mournful tones and my eyes spill tears

How long will I remain chained in my agonized past
How long will I moan in pain, how long will I last
My face is pale like snow as if I've embraced death
My lungs fail to give me life, I exhale my final breath

'How long, ' I mutter, 'how long'
For death is near, I hear its song
'How long, ' I chant, 'how long'
The music clashed with the sound of the Death Gong.
