POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Morrison, now P.M. (2018-) was Immigration minister when Australia clamped down on illegal arrivals by boat after 2013. 'How good is Australia! ' is what he said on unexpectedly winning the 2019 election.
'Girt by sea' is in the first verse of the national anthem, 'Advance Australia Fair! '
