How Can Despair In Old Age Be Contended With Each Day? Poem by Shalom Freedman

How Can Despair In Old Age Be Contended With Each Day?

HOW CAN DESPAIR IN OLD AGE BE CONTENDED WITH EACH DAY?

How can Despair in Old Age be contended with each day?
How can one deal with the dark thoughts?
Is there any other way
But through small everyday actions
Some effort to reestablish confidence in oneself
And hope in one's life?

The older one is
The more sick and troubled
The more difficult it is-

I have been blessed
With the delusion
Of believing that my writing words
I am doing something-

These lines help me contend with the Despair
I pray that for others there are also ways
To contend with what one must contend with
All the way
To the end of one's Life.
