How Are You Who You Are? Poem by Cameron Perez

How Are You Who You Are?

How Are You Who You Are?

Just as a tree will come from a seed,
Sunlight and water all you need,
Destined to be great, no way to impede
No way to change it, only to be freed.
How are you are who you are?

So young, but so mentally far ahead,
Beauty developed quick like rising bread,
Surprised at the number above your head
Others left with their looks only to dread.
How are you who you are?

Shooting so high, how could you go down?
Hid behind a small smile almost a frown,
So much to give, but hid by this new town
The walls of this place ready for teardown.
How are you who you are?

Hopefully this isn't just another phase,
Gone and replaced as quickly as days
Looked back on and described in a phrase,
But I will always ask with a daze.
How are you who you are?
