Hospital Bed Poem by Enilo Park

Hospital Bed

Rating: 4.5

Can you
Can you
Can you
With fingers so delicate
So paperwhite
Flake off an ounce of joy
From your laughing
Eyes, give this
Thirsty body some
Sunlight, a drop
Drop drop
Of blood seething,
Squeezing out of
Blue and wavering
Limbs
Can you
Can you
Can you
Bend over
Put cool cloths on my
Weeping neck and stretch out
A mat of lilies for
Me
For me
For me
To rest my dried and
Empty head, to become a soft
Lap for just a second,
Please
My love can you
Can you
Can you
Reach up into
The heavens, pull an
Orange from ripe suckling tree
Squeeze and squeeze til
Overflowing, I can stand
Again to look you in
The eye, see a human
Instead of a god
