Hope Swells Poem by RIC BASTASA

Hope Swells

the palm trees on the yard
seen through the window where
i am still in the middle of a
writing struggle are showing a
handful of nuts overflowing
from its hold

the feeling of swelling abundance
is here in the midst of the furious
sun where the road that goes beyond
us shows a lot of mirages
a show of probabilities that soon
the mountains shall be green
that soon the clouds shall be heavy
pouring the rains

waters shall run towards the paths
of rivers towards the basin towards
the mouths of oceans.

my peers are in samal island enjoying
the white sands and the shades of
coconut trees as they frolic the joys
in the twilight of their lives.

they will have no news of me
and they cannot tell hence what i am
up to.

i am trying to write what life means.
what this life means, and how we all
expected much from it.

there is peace and quiet after writing
all these... before i go to sleep.

A beautiful poem indeed. 'my peers are in samal island enjoying the white sands and the shades of coconut trees as they frolic the joys in the twilight of their lives.'... is so nice. Enjoyed.
