Hooked On Smartphone Teens Poem by Shqipe Prence

Hooked On Smartphone Teens

Rating: 4.0

Head crooked forward,
Sitting on the coach,
Tuned into smartphone,
Typing, tapping,
Clicking, ticking…

Addicted to the ping of text,
And the scrolling counter,
How much ‘like' them others,
Turning them all into gamblers,
Forgetting the time of day

Waiting for next instagram message,
Desperate for next ‘like'on Facebook,
Fueling teens obsession,
Fueling teens depression,
Hooked on the tech

Trying to keep up with fashion,
They use many kinds of applications,
Searching foremotions,
Pursuing instant feedback and reactions,
Digital natives in digital age…

Texting,
Listening to music,
Playinggames,
Feedling with apps,
Is all that time spent really good?

Technology can be your best friend,
Technology can be your worst friend,
It can reshape your thoughts,
It can reshape your behavior,
It can…
It can…

Turn smartphone off,
Put it away,
Your potential unlock,
Wise thinking to cultivate,
Great books to read…

Wisely smartphone to wield,
Life skills to learn,
Harms to mitigate,
Blessings to maximize,
Real world to embrace!
