Honeymoon Poem by James Gibbons

Honeymoon

Shimmering sensuous force
iridescent morning's glory
the velvety spotted butterfly
is drawn to the buttery blossom
and with a sip of narcotic nectar
overpowering rush, perfumed aphrodisiac
flushes of ecstasy, spinning senses
fluttering pulsations of pleasure
wings fold, unfold, gently rocking
as soft touches of soothing hands
instinctively repeating rituals
as ancient as Eve.

Genetic compulsion dictates emotion
Nature's conflict on parallel purposes
only obeying irresistible impulses
embracing momentary urges
arising from an inner need
engulfed in the eternal struggle
sweet honeyed passion's purpose
carried out in the flower's bower

Thousands of flowers wedded
repeating the eternal honeymoon
and the blossom lives forever.
