Hold Your Tongue Poem by Toshie Nohara

Hold Your Tongue

Rating: 5.0

In this world of stress and confusion
Think carefully before you make a decision
Know how to express yourself wisely
And how to progress smoothly

Even when your tongue wants to run wild
Be humble, say things that are mild
Hold your tongue for a while
Be patient and gracefully smile
To avoid any misunderstanding
To prevent any arguing
To not hurt or loose a friend
Learn to trust him till the end

When people say things to unsettle you
And others are out to irritate you
Keep control of yourself
Your mind 'patrols' and guards you!

From your heart
Say the right word
At the right time
At the right place
Will save you from loosing face

Choose to be reasonable
Live not to be regrettable

Hold your tongue if
possible
Age and maturity will
train your tongue to
say suitable things you
want to say
This way,
You save yourself from
embarrassment.

What a wise thing to tell, that age and maturity will train your tongue....When I was younger I thought having freedom of speech meant being able to say anything, at anytime. I have graduated to thinking we are free to choose our words kindly and wisely. Enjoyed this greatly. PEACE
