High Poem by Ella Lazaare

High

Rating: 3.0

Cumulus clouds so puffy and white
Breeze is frigid with icy delight
Blinding blue into the night
Don't you want to see the light?

Every step on the ground is a chain
Why not escape it and float far away?
Held down by piety, sobriety
False promises by society:

'Your mind is pristine
So long as you're clean
Life is a dream but
You gotta stay clean'

Always say the biggest lies
'Happiness is healthiness', try that on for size
Yeah, hell no.
I'd rather take to the skies,
Fly on by,
And just get real damn high

A powerful and honest description of escapism of drug, well articulated and elegantly brought forth in good rhyme scheme with insight. Thanks for sharing Ella.
