Hidden Agenda Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Hidden Agenda

So many times I've held you close,
Only to feel alone in your company,
Instead of walking away, I walked closer, addicted to the way you vocalized,
How could I walk away from the lips that mimic'd the prayers I've sent to heaven,
Asking only for us to stay the way we are,
Guess I Should've been more careful, the way I pray, perhaps,
Perfection seems so hard to obtain,
Our flaws are what connect us,
The strength to move a step further when things become hard,
Reason to grab your arm once your feet move the opposite direction, blind, deaf to the emotion your heart once screamed so loudly,
Should there be a reason to explain why our hearts feel the way they do, as a bond between a mother and their unborn child,
Vows made from your eyes to mine,
Heart shaped candies that whisper be mine,
If I had one wish, it would be that you weren't so insecure,
Instead of the mask you constantly wear so the stars won't critize your smile,
Purpose night falls across the land,
To sleep away the worries that wrinkle your face,
The slight arches that slide down your brow when your mad,
The way you look when love turns to friendship, words that once felt comfort now dangle over a cliff, begging to be pulled back up,
What was once a streaming river,
Cut short by a blockade of selfishness, a fear that lingers behind your eye,
Now a stranger to the look upon your face,
Risking love for hate,
Faces that now pass as if they didn't share a history,
Afraid to admit climax
