Here's My Version Of An Albanian Favourite Poem by Miriam Kimm

Here's My Version Of An Albanian Favourite

Mother country, Mother Earth
Where I lay my head at birth
Where I'm loved by mum, by dad
Where I know good times and bad
Where a house becomes a home
Where God claims me as his own
Where my ancestors have been
Where their gravestones can be seen
Where I was fed on crumbs when young
Where I learned my mother tongue
Where there's friend, where there's neighbour
Where there's hope, where there's labour
Where I laugh and where I cry
Where I want, at last, to die.

This is a translation of the poem Motherland by Andon Zako Çajupi
