</>a boy and a girl
in 8th grade they met
she saw him with his girlfriend
it caused her much fret
they hadn't really talked
just stares from a distance
yet they knew their time would come
prolonged by obstacles and resistance
friends they became
and romance showed as often as a full moon
it seemed they had slowly fallen for each other
though it felt too soon
she loved him deeply
though no words were said
and he loved her too
these words were kept silent as the dead
time passed, hurt occurred
he found other girls and she another man
though their feelings were still lingering
and it was evident fate had a different plan
four years later
together at last
they'd never been so happy
at the result of their past
through all the day
and through all the night
they thought about each other endlessly
and their love at first sight
so on his birthday
she wrote him a book
her heart on paper
this he cherished and took
he kept it always
loved it like he did her
he thought they'd be together forever
of this he was sure *
until in his fury
after they'd had a fight
he burned the book, set it on fire
she died that night
her funeral the next week
though in her death there was confusion and doubt
but the truth of the matter was
she burned from the inside out
