Hen Heaven(For One) Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Hen Heaven(For One)

Rating: 5.0

'Cock a doodle do! '
hollers the cockerel

then jives & jazzes it up.

'Cock a doodly doo! '
he hollers even more

right outside
our window.

'Cock a doodle don't! '
I holler back

and it departs sharpish
highly insulted by my affrontry

and the high-flying right foot boot.

'Make the sun come up...yourself!
Ya lazy runt!

it tosses over its
shoulder

going in search of
hen heaven.

What a wonderful cluckity cluck poem about a noisy old rooster! You make everything sound so much fun with your festive and witty pen... lovely poem from a lovely poet to a lovely poet. HG: -) xx
