Heather Poem by colleen brennan

Raspy voice broken chords

Instantly makes us laugh

Two women

12 year old girls

Connected through

Sexually abused pasts

Flayed skin off a pig

Years of alcoholic

tornadoes

sleeping walking through

life

Had awakened

in 10 minutes

another laugh, and hopeful sigh

Confidence won over

By One who has traveled through

Before

Now she holds the DOOR

The scared, empty, one last bit of faith….

Walks in that which TRUSTS

A WALK ALL THE WAY

THROUGH

It is a remarkable thing

To see the trauma off my back

Be that which

Carries the most power

To help another

Out of her dark past
