Heartbeats Poem by James Toghill

Heartbeats

Wires And Tubes Pipes and Cords
Life, s In The Balance On This Hospital Ward
Intakes Of Drugs Bleeping Machines
Will They Awake Is This All A Dream
Darkness Flickers Through The Still Of The Night
What We Take For Granted Now Brings Us A Fright
Coming And Going Waiting For News
The Telephone Rings As We Sing The Blues
No News Is Good News We, re Allway, s Told
Everyone, s Showing A Deep Heart Of Gold
Nurse, s and Doctor, s They Carn, t Do Enough
So Full Of Caring An Unsympathetic Love
Life, s Put In Perspective Value, s Mean So Much
Just Awaiting Their Clenching Touch
One Things For Certain As Life Passes Us By
It, s Deep From The Heart Thank God Your Alive
