Heartache Poem by Shameca Biggs

Heartache

Rating: 5.0

You don't feel the ache until it's all over.
It swells and writhes, consuming the mind.
You thought you had plenty of time.
One minute life's a rose, the next a three leaf clover.

And when it's over a piece of you dies.
A bullet to the head.
All the things left unsaid.
With no more what if's, no answers why.

Then you laugh numbly.
It's like holding gold in your hand.
Like discovering the master plan.
You realize the joke was never meant to be funny.

Because you walked away blindly.
Distracted and confused
Defected and abused
No Thanks, you refused kindly.

Or falling in love with a knife.
Utterly devoting yourself to fire.
The flames keep burning brighter.
And then you wake up dead, a love that took your life.
