Guilty Christian Poem by Shameca Biggs

Guilty Christian

Rating: 4.0

Lyrics of a song dance in my head, his scent still lingers and covers my bed
A simple request sent as a prayer for salvation, answered with the test of all his creation.
Do you love me enough to sacrifice? I know I want to but will not pay the price.
A life for a life and a fate for a fate, but I would not trade my window for his gate.
Alone I stand bleeding out silence, drinking and sexing, the dance of violence.
My Lord would not waiver; refused to give in, to the pleas of my ignorance and the might of my sin.
Marked for pleasure my spirit is scarred, my ears are deaf, my heart so hard.
And yet somehow I bend but do not break; the more I cry the more I take.
One day the victim, the fallen, the slave and the next a vixen, an actress,
the brave.
I have nothing but what he gave me. He gave nothing but what does save me.
Chasing myself and running away, like rain on a cloudless sunny day.
Idiosyncrasies obstruct my path, distort my views, provoking his wrath.
Lyrics of a song dance in my head, his scent still lingers and covers my bed.
