Heart Of The World Poem by Joshua Swanson

Heart Of The World

Deep in the darkness,
the drums do beat.
A fire bursts,
The dancers LEAP!

Drums beat,
And the dance swirls faster;
Drums beat,
And the dance swirls faster;

A violent dance,
The dancers whirl.
The fire sparks,
The dancers twirl.

Drums beat,
And the dance swirls faster;
Drums beat,
And the dance swirls faster;

The beat of the drums;
The beat of the heart;
The beat of the feet;
On the hard-packed dirt.

Drums beat,
And the dance swirls faster;
Drums beat,
And the dance swirls faster;

The beat of the soul,
Against the brain;
A burning coal,
A flickering flame.

Drums beat,
And the dance swirls faster;
Drums beat,
And the dance swirls faster;

At the end of time,
When the dancers slow,
will the drums still beat?
will the dance still flow?

Drums beat,
And the dance swirls faster;
Drums beat,
And the dance swirls faster;
