He Is More Than A Hero ~sappho (My Version) Poem by Libby Bechtel

He Is More Than A Hero ~sappho (My Version)

He is equal to the idols we adore
Sitting so close that his love is the only blanket I'll ever need
My voice, his portal to bliss
Both mesmerized by my laughter like angels rejoicing our love
If you should creep into my sight,
The words die before they leave my lips
While beneath my flesh, a heat of such intensity it blinds my eyes
And I'm left with only my heartbeat telling the story of our love
My flesh now bathed in my sweat & my figure quaking
More ashen than grass after a drought
Feeling as if the hooded figure of death was standing behind my shoulder,
I can almost feel the kiss of death
