He Crashed The Gate Poem by chris schwartz

He Crashed The Gate

She was just a little shy,
Turning fifty eight
Went flying down the road
Passed the sunset boulevard
Doing a hundred and eight
He climbed into the
Passenger side
Said, I'm in love
With you honey
Now take me
For a ride.
So they cruised down
Sunset strip
She drove him
Crazy
He was so damned lazy
Thought he had turned
Her on..
But her foot
Stepped on the pedal
Made him realize
He was much too young
To school her.

She put the five O
To the floor
His eyes staring
At the dashboard
Watched her curve
Past the tailgates
Through hell.
She had run all
His racetracks
And had skirted through
The curves
Nothing caught her off guard
Nothing made her
Unfurl.
Sept the sound
Of his heart
Beating so fast
And so hard
It was the one curve
She just couldn't steer
Clear of.

The crash came
So fast
Nothing good
Is meant to last
Just the memories
Of the ocean waves
We stay away from.
